More than 14 million Mobylettes came out of the Motobecane factories in Pantin, France. The last model came out in the early 80's before the company filed for bankruptcy, there are still a lot of them all over the USA, sitting in basements and garages waiting for you to bring them back to life. If you are lucky to find one, the moped will be in need of some restorations and tinkering to get it back on the road. This is a job that can be handled by beginners that don't mind getting their hands dirty. A small amount of mechanical knowledge and will is all it takes. This site will help you maintain your Mobylette in good running condition.

All Mobylettes, mostly the 50V,50, 50L and 40 models will be the subjects discussed on the site, other models will be added in the future, like the Caddy. This site is mostly for new owners, that want to get acquainted with the Motobecanes. Go to the Mabecane Forum to ask and post questions.

"Motobécane" is a compound word made up of two colloquialisms stuck together. "moto" is a slang word for motorcycle; "bécane" is slang for "bike" (pedal type.)
